Our Sanctuary renewal project was designed to bring us closer to God, closer to our tradition, and closer to each other...
We began with new pews, and seating in the round to always remind us that in our services, we are an active, engaged
community, not a passive audience. In our new design, we look at each other's faces and into one another's eyes, not just
at the back of someone's head.
The Bimah is lower, and the Rabbi and Cantor have been brought closer to the congregation; they lead from our
midst, not high up fom a stage. A ramp enables everyone, regardless of age or physical ability, to have access to
the Torah. And the Choir at long last has their designated place.
The Ark has been redone to allow us to open the doors and curtain with ease, and to remove any of the Torah scrolls
without the risk of falling. The wall surrounding the Aron are of gorgeous Jerusalem stone, so that as we face
them, we envision the Holy Temple and its Western Wall.
The Memorial Boards have been redesigned to bring greater honor to our loved ones, with a more appropriate way to mark
Yahrzeits and Yizkor.
A lovely cupola allows natural light to fall fom above into the sanctuary, and new lighting on the walls
makes it much easier to read the Siddur and Humash.
A Sanctuary must be two things: A Refuge from the outside, and a Gateway to the sacred. We invite you to join us
in our new Sanctaury.
